About Us
Founded in 2018, Normal Landscape & Stone is named after the Normaltown neighborhood in Athens, GA, where the company got it's start, but the work we do is not merely normal. Originally known as Normal Landscape Cooperative, we later cemented "Stone" onto the name to emphasize our focus on uniquely high quality stone masonry, applying modern tools and artistic style to the tried-and-true old school methods of construction proven to stand the test of time. Durability in construction reduces long term costs and keeps more materials from ending up in the landfill. Our garden designs and sustainable practices aim to improve the health of the landscape's ecology, focusing on native plants and other site-appropriate species, as well as addressing factors like drainage and soil health. We also strive to rise above the norm in the creativity of our designs, the quality of our craftsmanship, and our responsiveness to the unique needs and tastes of each of our clients.

Nick and Jessica Lapointe are a husband and wife team of landscapers, builders, designers and artists. Ever since they met while working in environmental and agricultural reasearch, they dreamed of their own farm on which to put into practice the innovative regenerative farming practices that they had been introduced to in college soil science classes. Landscaping initally presented itself as a means for continuing to develop the broad skillsets of land management, construction, problem solving and plain old hard work that they knew would eventually be neccesary for developing farmland.
Nick quickly realized that this was a perfect field for a generalist with diverse interests because the demands of the work can be so varied, but also came to specialize in stone masonry as a craft that incorporates a unique combination of artistic vision, brute strength and attention to detail. Jessica claims that she moved into landscaping work primarily as an avenue to find more insects, snakes, and lizards, and it certainly is true that her love of wildlife informs her choices of bird and pollinator friendly plants when drawing up planting plans.
